Title I Teacher
A Good Citizen Program was started in October under the direction of Mrs. Shelly Mace. Teachers observe students for a month looking for 5 out of 6 "Good Citizen" traits. The six traits are: Be helpful, Follow all rules, Be responsible, Be a good example for others, Treat others well, and Do your best. Those students who qualify as Good Citizens receive a prize for their good behavior.
During the month of October there were 125 students who were rewarded with prizes and the honor of being called a Good Citizen. Students who receive the Good Citizen award every month throughout the semester will participate in a bigger reward. Students who fail to meet the Good Citizenship standards are encouraged to try again because every month their slate is wiped clean and they begin again.
PHE is participating in Operation Christmas Child. This is an international relief project dedicated to giving children in other countries a small gift during the holiday season. We think this is a very important and worthwhile cause and appreciate your continued help in trying to teach our students the importance of giving to others. Please send items to school by November 16.
PHE will also be collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantry. Collection dates are Monday, December 14th through Friday, December 18. The class collecting the most food items will win a pizza party (thanks to PTO). In order for the teachers to keep track of the cans each student brings in, please put your child's items in a bag and label the bag with the child's name and number of items.
