DNR PREDICTS GOOD TURKEY KILL

(10/07/2009)
West Virginia's DNR says there will be good hunting for wild turkey this fall.

Poor and spotty food conditions in West Virginia's woods, declared the worst mast crop in 40 years, will cause the birds to concentrate in open fields and field borders.

DNR's Paul Johansen expects hunters to shoot more than last year's kill of 1,206 turkeys.

The fall season starts on Oct. 24, but not all of the state's 55 counties are open for turkey hunting.
