There will be a workday for the Grantsville Community Garden Monday, September 28 at 5:30 p.m. During this time, volunteers are needed from the community to assist with removing the fencing materials around the two garden plots, as the gardening season has come to an end at these plots. Tools requested to be brought to the community workday include: t-post pullers, needle-nose pliers, gloves, and a pick-up truck for hauling posts to storage.
The WVU-Calhoun County Extension Office will be storing the fencing materials to use for the next gardening season. For those interested in learning how to obtain a garden plot at the Grantsville Community Garden for the 2010 gardening season, you may contact the Extension Office at 304-354-6332 for more information.
During the last community workday scheduled on Saturday, September 5, 2009, Knotts Memorial United Methodist Church volunteers and community volunteers harvested approximately 350 pounds of potatoes. Those potatoes were then donated to 35 families in need living in Calhoun County. For more information about making additional food donations, please contact the church at (304) 354-6012.
