Appalene P. Ferrell, 84, of Macfarlan, W.Va., died Sept. 22, 2009, at her residence.
She was born March 2, 1925, at Macfarlan, the daughter of the late James F. and Lydia Jane Haught Roberts.
Appalene graduated from Harrisville High School with the class of 1942. She worked at Glen L. Martin in Baltimore, Md., during World War II and later at Economy Industries, Ritchie Needle and United Manufacturing. She was a member of Strait Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Frances Ferrell of Kingwood, W.Va., and Randall and Shirley Ferrell of Cambridge, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ryan, Lydia and Shane Ferrell; and one sister, Kathleen Wilson of Johnson City, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Ferrell; brothers, Ofa, James and Elmer Roberts; and sister, Isabelle Brissey.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, with Pastor Dobby Thrash officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartley Cemetery, Brohard. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
