June Snider Holland, 78, of Falls View, W.Va., departed this life Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009. Her family and friends celebrate her life and love as she enters the glorious presence of her Lord and God in heaven.
Born Aug. 31, 1931, in Freed, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Burl L. and Ada Maze Snider.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John S. Holland Jr.
A registered nurse, June received her training at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg and served generations of children as a school nurse in Fayette County.
She was a member of the Falls View Presbyterian Church and served faithfully as an Elder of the church. June worked to ease the suffering of those in need by working tirelessly at the Fayette Food Pantry and clothes closet at Montgomery Presbyterian Church.
She always had a smile, a kind word and a hug to all she knew and met. June was also a past worthy matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Guiding Star Chapter 72 and Kanawha Chapter 38.
June loved her family and friends, her church and church family, the Bluestone Conference Center, fishing, riding jet skis, driving Sally's convertible through the mountains, whitewater rafting, the ocean and the beach, WVU sports and the Mountaineer Marching Band, and sitting on the front porch swing where she often visited with her neighbors.
She taught her children to love their neighbors throughout the world with selfless acts of hospitality and generosity.
June is survived by her children and their spouses, the Rev. John S. Holland III and Judy of Point Pleasant, W.Va., Sally Holland Kline and Joe of Minneapolis, Minn., and Flora Holland McCarthy and Jim of Gastonia, N.C.; her sister, Joan Myers and husband, Gene, of Parkersbug; and her beloved grandchildren, Ross, Lucy and Quinn Holland and Emily Kline.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Falls View Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Joan Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Montgomery Memorial Park, London, W.Va. Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Pennington Funeral Home, 331 Main St., Gauley Bridge, W.Va., where an Order of Eastern Star service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m.
