By about the length of time it takes to smoke half a cigarette I began to wonder if there was a "mercy rule" in football, at Thursday's game in Fairmont.
Research at a later date will determine if any records were set for the number of points scored with the fewest amount of plays in the least time.
GSC receiver (left) tried to make a diving catch but missed.
To score 21-points the Falcons had two plays from scrimmage, an interception, and a kick-off return. It took all of 69-seconds excluding the kick-off return.
On GSC's first possession from scrimmage Ryland Newman netted an interception for Fairmont making a 39 yd return to score.
Their third touchdown in the first quarter was a 73-yard kick-off return.
All told Fairmont benefited from seven interceptions and three GSC fumbles.
Glenville quarterback James McCants didn't start the game but netted 18-33 for 254 yards, one touchdown and five interception by games end.
The Pioneers never gave up though, coming back from long odds and big leads twice during the contest.
The GSC coaching staff was called for unsportsmanlike conduct during a midfield argument with officials near the end of the third quarter.
GSC's Brian Harden (17) and DeAndre Johnson (13) led the Pioneers rushing effort with 115 and 121 yards respectively. Xavier Glenn (5) led the receivers with 120 yards in five receptions. He also netted 102 yards on four kick-off returns. James McDonald had 99 yards in 8 catches.
In another Xavier Glenn run, he attempts
to make a sharp turn to avoid a tackler.
