India W. Drennen age 88 of Grass Run Community, Normantown, West Virginia went to be with Jesus at 7:15 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2009 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston following a 3-day illness.
She was born August 3, 1921 in Calhoun County, a daughter of the late Gallory and Ada Cottril Drennen.
Mrs. Drennen was a homemaker, former employee of Kenny Shoe Co.; retired from Glenville State College; was a member of the Hardman Fork Baptist church and attended the Sand Fork Baptist Church.
On December 31, 1937 she was married to Everett Drennen who preceded her in death May 30, 2002.
Surviving are two sons and three daughters: Bacil Drennen of Cox's Mill, WV; Tony Drennen and wife Marcia of Glenville; Violet Thomas and husband Sam of Camden; Charlotte Baker and husband Eddie of Barberton, OH and Wanda Mace of Parkersburg.
Two brothers and 3 sisters survive: Bernard McCumbers of Nicut and Junior McCumbers of LaGrange, OH; her twin sister, Linda McCumbers of Nicut; Gladys Snyder of Avon, OH and Clara Turner of Akron, OH.
There are 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren surviving.
Mrs. Drennen was preceded in death by 2 infant children: Cathy Sue and Donnie Lee; 1 brother, Willis McCumbers; 1 sister, Geneva Nicholson; 1 son-in-law, Jake Moore and a daughter-in-law.
Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2009 at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. Glenville where Preacher Phil Wilson officiated. Burial followed in the Norris Cemetery, Grass Run. Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. assisted the family of India W. Drennen with arrangements.
