West Virginia deer hunters will have an early hunting season this fall.
Deer hunting used to start in October.
This year a five-day early archery season will run from Sept. 14 to the 19th.
An early muzzle-loading gun season will run from Sept. 21 to Sept. 26.
DNR Director Frank Zezioro says because warm weather is possible, hunters should take special efforts to ensure their kills don't spoil.
Zezioro is suggesting hunters keep bags of ice on hand to keep the meat cool.
Special stamps are being sold for the September hunts.
