Orel Bronson Hickman Jr., 60, of Big Springs, West Virginia, passed away August 25, 2009 at home surrounded by his family following an extended illness.
He was born April 23, 1949 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Orel Bronson Hickman Sr. and Gladis Virginia Bower Hickman. He was a retired school bus driver for the Calhoun County Board of Education with 25 years as an honorable servant to children and education. He was a US Navy Veteran of the Viet Nam War serving from 1969 to 1971. He was a Christian and attended the Cherry Fork Methodist Church most of his life.
Surviving are his wife, Alice Jennings Hickman; and a daughter, Lisa Dawn Hickman Walker and her husband Jason; grandchildren, Courtney Dawn Conrad, Levi Daniel Walker, step grandchildren, Cara Grace walker, Adam Cole Walker; one sister, Darlene Harris; brothers, Phillip Hickman and wife Micki of Lewisburg, WV, Alfred Hickman and wife Jeanie of Big Springs, Hatzel Hickman and wife Jessy Diane of China Grove, NC, Tim Hickman and wife Terry of Big Springs; sister-in-law, Ann Richards of Big Springs; his mother-in-law, Mae Jennings of Big Springs; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son Daniel Bronson Hickman; three brothers, Franklin, Bobby and Delmer Hickman; and his grandparents Ethan and Pearl Kendall Hickman and Roy and Icie Taylor Bower.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, August 27 at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Rev. Harold Francis and Rev. Rick Metheney will officiate. Interment will be in the Kight Cemetery, Grantsville with Military Graveside Rites.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 12-noon until the time of the service Thursday.
