Remodeling of the I.L. Morris Stadium press box will be complete by next Thursday's (Aug 27) opening game of
the 2009 Glenville State College football season. Custom windows are on order with delivery expected September 1.
It's a top-to-bottom remodeling effort that expands the structure to 48x12 with a new restroom facility. An updated sound system has also been installed at the facility.
Total cost for the project is expected to be about $40,000.
A treated deck will sit atop the structure with a covered canopy to permit filming of events.
Inside, two rooms will be dedicated to serving coaches and media requirements. One will serve radio broadcasting needs; the other will support play-by-play coverage of the game in addition to supporting college, newspaper and television media. And, two coaches boxes are in place.
The combined area was designed to comfortably seat 18 people, according to site manager Buzz Roberts of Roberts' Brothers, Inc.
A third room in the press box houses a luxury suite built to seat up to seven.
The GSC Pioneers, defending WVIAC champs, will face Stonehill Thursday night. Kick-off time is 7 p.m.
