Charles Edward "Pete" Starcher, 70, of Spencer, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, in the Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
He was born Monday, March 20, 1939, at Zona, Roane County, a son of the late Harlan "Jim" Starcher and the late Nellie Gandee Starcher Kee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and her husband, Betty and Robert Maxwell; and stepfather, Joe N. Kee.
Pete was a former sales representative for the Roane Grocery, Spencer, the Midland Grocery and Goldsmit-Black, Vienna. He was a graduate of Walton High School and a member of the Moriah Lodge No. 83, A.F. & A.M., Spencer. Also, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Keffer Starcher of Spencer; son, Gregory Starcher of Mooresville, NC; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Kevin Bartlett of Spencer; two grandsons, Quentin and Andrew Bartlett; sister, JoAnn Bravo of Lost Creek; sister and brother-in-law, Naomi and Jerry Southall of Spencer; step sister and brother-in-law, Eve and Don Southall of Spencer; several nieces and nephews.
Pete requested that after his death he wanted to be cremated and that there be no formal service held. A private final disposition of his cremains will be at a later date and at the convenience of the family.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to: Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.
