Victor E. Marple, 90, of Spencer died February 8, 2002, at the
Charleston Area Medical Center's General Division, Charleston,
W.Va.
He was born Aug. 9, 1911, in Upshur County, a son of the late Heaston and
Jessie Post Marple. He was a farmer and cattleman, retired from the Spencer
State Hospital and was a graduate of Spencer High School.
He is survived by three daughters, Freda F. Anderson of Reedy, Jessie J.
Whited of Parkersburg and Margaret E. Courtney of Palestine; two sons, Victor
E. Marple Jr. of Spencer and Allen Marple of Ripley; one sister, Sylvia Riger of
Massillon, Ohio; two brothers, Denzil Marple of Lakeland, Fla., and Ray
Marple of Canal Fulton, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Lucy Taylor Marple; and two
sisters, Rella Davis and Edna Epling.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home,
Spencer, the Rev. James Anderson officiating. Burial in Hodam Cemetery.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
