| William Darrell Stump, 79, of Claytor Lake, Dublin, Va., died Monday, July 20, 2009.
He was born in Stumptown, the son of the late Dallas and Daisy Knotts Stump. He entered the Navy in 1947, earned his bachelor's degree from Fairmont State College, master's degree at Ohio University and doctorate from University of Missouri. He was a professor at Ft. Hays State University, Hays, Kan., and Radford University, Va., where he retired in 1996.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Burns Stump; three daughters; two sons; and one brother, Eugene Stump of Parkersburg.
Private services were held July 21, 2009.
