Hundreds of regional residents flocked to WVU-Parkersburg yesterday to get free dental care, a program offered by dentists and volunteers through Mission of Mercy.
People started showing for the first-come, first served program at 5:30 a.m., with 850 registering by 7:30 a.m. Hundreds were turned away, some of which could return Saturday.
Some individuals showed at 8 p.m. Thursday evening, camping out in tents while others slept in cars.
An organizer Joyce Mather said "That is how badly oral health care is needed in West Virginia."
The free clinic will be repeated today.
