The premiere of the documentary "Coal Country" has found a new venue.
The film will be shown free at an 8 p.m. screening Saturday at the Cultural Center theater in the state Capitol Complex.
A plan to show the movie in South Charleston was scratched after "a potential security concern."
Producer Mari-Lynn Evans was in a mad scramble to find a new venue.
"It was a real shock when they canceled it," said Evans, who also produced the award-winning PBS documentary "The Appalachians."
After several problems surfaced over mountaintop removal in recent weeks, the LaBelle Theater felt coal miners might object to it, even though the film considers all sides in the contentious debate.
"We'd rather not get involved in a function like this where there might be a fracas or somebody might get hurt," said an official.
