ILL-FATED POWERBALL FAMILY HAS ANOTHER DEATH

(07/07/2009)
Ginger Whittaker Bragg, 42, daughter of ill-fated Powerball winner Jack Whittaker, has been found dead in her Raleigh County home.

Police do not suspect foul play, but an investigation is continuing.

Bragg's father won a $314 million Powerball jackpot on Christmas Day 2002.

At that time it was the largest amount ever won with a single ticket.

Jack Whittaker said Bragg had battled cancer - Hodgkin's lymphoma - for several years.

Bragg told media in 2002 she had a wish list of ways to spend the money, including buying a condo in Cancun.

Since Whittaker won the jackpot, his life has been long-suffering.

He is best remembered by Calhoun residents for improperly installing waterlines in the Pleasant Hill PSD expansion.

He has been arrested for drunken driving, sued for assault, had his money stolen, and lived through several tragic deaths.

His wife filed for divorce.

His granddaughter and Bragg's daughter, Brandi, died after a drug overdose in the home of her boyfriend, Brandon Crosier, 19, just before Christmas in 2004. She was only 17.

Crosier directed police to her body beneath a broken-down van in his father's front yard. She was wrapped in a sheet and plastic tarp and apparently had been placed there by Crosier after the two were together inside his home.

An autopsy concluded that Brandi died because she over-ingested methadone and injected cocaine.
