| Joseph Derron "Joey" Self, age 33 of Dusk Camp Road, Stouts Mills, Gilmer County, West Virginia, departed this life at 5:35 a.m., Friday July 3, 2009 at his residence following an unexpected illness.
He was born July 2, 1976 at Grantsville, WV, a son of Dennis and Virginia Keith Self of Stouts Mills.
Joey was employed by Bruce Allen Pipeline, a graduate of Gilmer County High School, enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing basketball, football and baseball. He attended the Church of God of Prophecy at Sand Fork.
He was married to Jessica Riddel Self, August 14, 1998, who survives at their Dusk Camp home.
In addition to his parents and wife he is survived by a brother, Charles D. Self and wife Laura of Dusk Camp; a sister, Charlene Montgomery and husband Mark of Linn; five nephews; several aunts and uncles; and his in-laws, Robert and Debra Kerby Riddel.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, July 9 at Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Self Family Cemetery on Dusk Camp.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Mortuary.
