Bids for Calhoun's 29-mile $5.2 million water extension project will be opened Thursday at Arnoldsburg at 1:30 p.m..
While four contractors attended a pre-bid meeting held earlier, a large number of outfits are expected to submit bids.
The bid will be approved by the Mt. Zion Public Service District board, after evaluation.
Tim Meeks with the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Council said if all goes well, the construction contracts could be awarded in September and construction could begin in October, 2009.
The water line extension covers an area from Russett to Millstone and Rt. 16 south to the Upper West Fork Park.
The project will also include the installation of fire hydrants to service those areas.
