The mystery cat caught in a live animal trap featured in a Herald story yesterday has been solved, but the saga continues.
Barbara Johnson of Sand Ridge reported the cat find, including providing a photo.
DNR officer Eric Bostic took the cat and then released it in the Rush Run area between Sassafras Ridge and Steer Creek.
The owner of the Bengal cat recently moved to Sand Ridge, not far from where the cat was trapped.
The cat escaped when a TV satellite installer left the door open.
Anita Stickler said officer Bostic was really helpful to retrieve the animal, "He took me to where he released her and I took one of Lilly the Cat's grandsons with me but had no luck. I notified the closest houses to her release location."
"We really want to get her back," she said.
Lilly is a Bengal cat first generation also known as F1.
Her father is an Asian Leopard cat and her mother a domestic house cat.
The Bengal is now an accepted breed by The International Cat Association.
Stickler says, "Lilly being an F1 is bonded to one person and one person only, myself. She does not like my husband, my children or anyone else but she loves me."
The Stickler family recently purchased the Kenneth and Martha Hall property near the Sand Ridge church.
