Governor Joe Manchin says the Federal Emergency Management Agency has added Calhoun and several regional counties to a federal disaster declaration due to flooding last month.
Manchin said FEMA has added Calhoun, Gilmer, Lewis, Roane, Upshur and Wirt counties to the declaration, .
"FEMA will now assess the damage," said Calhoun's OES Director Kathy Wood.
Wood had asked local property owners damaged by the flood to report the problem to FEMA.
Severe storms on May 3 caused road and infrastructure damage in the six counties.
Government agencies and non-profit organizations can now apply for federal public assistance grants.
McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Raleigh and Wyoming counties were included in earlier disaster declarations from flooding in late May.
