Nationwide Insurance has agreed to sponsor the Wood Festival 5K Run-Walk which will be held starting in front of the Calhoun County Courthouse June 6 at 8 a.m.
The race is the second of the season in the Calhoun Cup Series sponsored by the Calhoun Runners.
The first race of the season was the Flower Power Run at Calhoun Park.
Brian Taylor (men's running), Melinda Fitzwater (women's running), Mark Rooper (men's walking) and Marty Owings (women's walking) are the defending champions.
The rest of the 2009 Calhoun Cup schedule includes:
* June 20 Appalachian Classic at Calhoun County Park.
* August 15 Hotter Than Heck Run at Calhoun County Park.
* November 7 Not Yet Done Run at Calhoun County Park.
All Races are 5K (3.1 miles) and all races have men's a women's divisions in running and walking. All divisions are divided further by age although the Calhoun Cup itself is held regardless of age and is divided by men's and women's walking and running only.
Entry fee for the Nationwide-Wood Festival 6K Run/Walk is $15.
