Glendon Neil Ashley, 67, of Big Bend died January 27, 2002, at
Minnie Hamilton Health Care of Grantsville.
He was born in Burning Springs, a son of the late Jess G. and Nellie McCroskey
Ashley. He is a lifetime member of the Disabled Veterans of America of
Parkersburg. Neil was a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, serving in the
Korean and Vietnam wars. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Neil enjoyed
hunting, fishing and his family.
Surviving are his wife, Elma Kathryn Whited Ashley; one son and
daughter-in-law, Glendon Guy and Teressa Ashley of Glenville, WV; one daughter,
Glenna Kay Ashley of Carollton, Ohio; also Glendon Neil Ashley Jr, Joyce and
Patricia; one brother, Niles G. Ashley of Elizabeth, WV; and six grandchildren, Kayla,
Taylor and Hunter Ashley of Glenville, and Zachary, Bill Ray and Tessie
Gotschell of Carollton, Ohio.
Service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Matheny Pomroy Funeral Home,
Elizabeth, Pastor Bryan Groves and the Rev. David Morris officiating. Military
honors will be held at Hill Grove Cemetery, Wirt County. Friends may call from
6-9 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday.
