Wesley Kent Ellis, 72, of Newton, West Virginia, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in St. Francis Hospital, Charleston.
Kent was born Sunday, November 22, 1936, at Newton, a son of the late Lee and Nannie Nester Ellis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister; three brothers, Delano, Roy and Dan Ellis.
He was a retired farmer, a 1955 graduate of Spencer High School and a member of the Newton Baptist Church, Newton.
Survivors include six sisters, Ronda Smith of Newton, Joyce Fanaza of Boardman, OH, Jean Brannon of Dillsburg, PA, Martha Cox of Charleston, Judy DePue of Winfield and Sheila Minardi of Daytona Beach Shores, FL; two brothers, Lane Ellis of White Sulphur Springs and Frank Ellis of Bellevue, OH; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 2 at 1:00 p.m. in the Newton Baptist Church, Newton, with Pastor Ron Fisher, Pastor Roy Huffman and Pastor John Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Laurel Point Cemetery, Newton. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
