Richard (Dick) Lee Kelley, 56, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, is at peace following a long illness. With his family by his side, he was called home on April 19, 2009.
Dick was born in Parkersburg, on March 24, 1956. A 1971 graduate of Parkersburg High and former member of the Big Red marching band, he also attended Parkersburg Community College, where he studied history. Employed for many years with the State of West Virginia and was a Baptist by faith.
He was creative and possessed a passion for history, art, music and literature. He loved animals, the outdoors and freely gave of himself to others less fortunate. Dick will be deeply missed by those he touched. He was a Baptist by faith.
He is survived by one sister, Catherine L. Reed of Vienna (fiance, Walter Lively); one brother, Phillip H. Kelley (Marina) of Parkersburg; and three nephews, Ryan N. Reed of Princeton, N.J., Phillip (Chris) Kelley of Parkersburg and Sean T. Reed of Fairmont. He was also survived by three nieces, Katie L. Kelley of Huntington, Suzette R. Raddatz and Alley T. Kelley of Parkersburg.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda Kelley and Richard H. Kelley of Vienna; grandparents, Edith Ferrell and Everett Ferrell of Big Bend, W.Va.; grandparents, Pauline Kelley and Ernest Kelley of Mt. Zion, W.Va.; and one aunt, Martha Ferrell of Big Bend.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 3005 Grand Central Ave., Vienna, with Dr. David Carrico officiating. Burial will follow in the Big Bend Cemetery, Calhoun County. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
