West Virginia has the most obese citizens in America.
This led to a big-to-do about passing a bill in the legislature that required chain restaurants and some other food outlets to post a calorie count for consumers.
That measure is now dead.
Delegates mocked the demise of the bill this week while munching on Tudor's biscuits and gravy, McDonald's sandwiches and Krispy Kreme dounuts.
The food fare was provided by delegate Mike Ross, D-Randolph County.
The original calorie bill was opposed by former state senator Oshel Craigo, who still has lots of friends in the legislature.
Craigo owns Tudor's Biscuit World and Gino's Pizza.
Legislators helped Craigo by amending the bill to exclude his restaurants, but after the news hit the media, it included Craigo's outlets again.
Now, the whole bill is down the drain, with the legislator's high calories fast food fest. |
