Wirt and Grantsville VFD members work to extract
56-year-old Roane woman from crash on Creston Hill

Three people went to regional hospitals following a truck-car collision at the Wirt-Calhoun county line on Rt. 5 west of Big Bend, Thursday afternoon.

Sources at the scene indicated none of the victims appeared to be critically injured.

A 56-year-old Roane County woman was flown to Charleston Area Medical Center by Air Evac chopper from Wood County, reportedly suffering from a possible head injury.

An 18-year-old in the same vehicle was taken by Wirt EMS to a Parkersburg hospital, and the driver of the pick-up truck was also taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The vehicles crashed within feet of the county line at 3:21 p.m., inside Wirt County on a hill leading down to Creston.

Both the Grantsville and Wirt County VFD's responded with trucks and rescue equipment, the 56-year-old female required extraction.

Calhoun and Wirt EMS transported the injured parties.
