Calhoun County residents and businesses who have received notification of their new physical address from the USPS have been requesting E-911 locater signs.
"Due to a problem with the supplier, delivery of the locater signs has been delayed," according to Director Gary Buchanan.
"When they arrive, firefighters will install them as soon as possible. The E-911 Addressing and Mapping Coordinator apologizes for the delay and appreciates your patience, he said.
The signs are being installed at or near the access point of a residence by members of the volunteer fire departments for a donation of $10.
The signs are free.
If anyone chooses to purchase and install a sign themselves, it must be placed on the same side of the road as the home or business.
Installation of the sign on a mailbox that is on the opposite side of the road from the home or business is not acceptable, as this will make it difficult for first responders to find a location in case of an emergency.
