WV LAUNCHING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REGISTRY

(03/24/2009)
West Virginia is launching an electronic domestic violence registry that should close a gap in the flow of information from the courts to law enforcement about protection orders.

The database allocated through a $980,000 grant from state and federal sources, will allow all court systems throughout the state to scan copies of protection orders into a statewide database minutes after judges sign them.

The database will be accessible to law enforcement but not the public.
