REPORT WILL ADD CLARITY TO WVU DEGREE SCANDAL

(03/20/2009)
A new and in-depth report will further reveal the flawed record-keeping that allowed West Virginia University to award hundreds of degrees despite credit-hour or other discrepancies.

WVU says it will release a second report by the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers on March 30.

The first report said 288 undergraduate and master's degrees were granted between May 1997 and August 2008 with records deficiencies.

The review follows a master's degree scandal involving Gov. Joe Manchin's daughter that forced then-President Mike Garrison to resign.
