The Calhoun County Park is making plans for a big year of activities, according to Henry Cooper, who with a number of park board members made a presentation to the Calhoun Commission this week.
Cooper told commissioners "We have a pretty big vision to make the park more attractive and usable by the community."
He said the Park Board has some really active members who are working hard.
He asked the commission for some financial support, about $5,000, to help pay basic expenses. The commission has requested a $20,000 grant through Delegate David Walker, to be used to develop long-planned camping areas.
This year's Fun Fest "will be greatly expanded to three days" Cooper said, the event is scheduled for September, which will include a Civil War reinactment.
Spring Fling will be a major event scheduled for May 2nd.
The park is seeking to re-stock the ponds with fish.
Other plans will feature Heritage Village, which now has six historical structures.
