Grass fire burned up to greenhouse, which was spared

Chief Perkins said high heat and a March
breeze caused the grass fire to spread

Upper West Fork firemen responded to a grass fire on Walker Road at 12:43 p.m. Saturday.

The fire threatened a greenhouse belonging to Justin Wizard.

Chief Randy Perkins said the fire destroyed a small outbuilding and a woodpile and burned "right up against the greenhouse."

Firemen quickly brought the blaze under control.

The fire burned about two acres near Wizard's greenhouse and residence.

The Upper West Fork VFD answered a call earlier Saturday at 10:18 a.m. on Walnut Road, where a pile of building materials caught on fire next to a dwelling.

"The owner almost had the fire out when we arrived," said Perkins.
