Glenville, WV - Free wildfire training courses will be held at Glenville State College February 27-March 1, 2009.
GSC Instructor of Forestry Joe Musolf says the training is open to the public and will include the ICS 100, S-130, S-160, and S-190 courses as well as pack test preparation.
Musolf said, "These are all introductory courses mandatory for those who want to fight wildfires on a federal level. Those who complete the classes and pass the pack test will be issued red cards certifying them to fight fires with the U.S. Division of Forestry."
Musolf says students who have successfully completed this training have used their knowledge and skills in West Virginia as well as to assist firefighters in other parts of the country. The free training will last about four hours on Friday, February 27th, all day on Saturday, February 28th, and part of the day on Sunday, March 1st.
