West Virginia is getting a new area code (681) in addition to the current 304 area code.
304 has been in existence since 1947.
It will be an overlay system, not regional, which adds an area code to the same geographic region as an existing area code.
Current 304 customers will keep their current area code.
You must dial (ten digits) - the area code and the 7 digit phone number for all local calls.
New phone customers in West Virginia will be assigned numbers with the 681 area code.
