Superintendent Ron Blankenship told school board members last night the system had received
a $715,000 grant to repair and upgrade the physical plant at Pleasant Hill School. The grant
was given to the system by the School Building Authority.
The county's Unified County Improvement Plan was presented to the board by administrator
Greg Cartwright, which covers several areas which need improvement. One area is to raise
SAT-9 scores for 9th graders, which have been in a critical nose-dive for about five years.
Cartwright also discussed the dual-credit policy now being used to assist students.
The board focused on completing a self assessment of the board, its successes and
shortcomings.
Resignations, job postings and new hires were approved. (SEE later story)
The board concluded the meeting by going into executive session to discuss personnel issues,
at the request of member Ralph Cunningham.
