WEASE FAMILY REBOUNDING AFTER CHRISTMAS FIRE - Opening Auto Repair Business

Remnants of old Wease homestead on Annamoriah

One can only imagine what it would be like to loose everything in a house fire. The Kevin Wease family lost all their possessions when their house on Annamoriah Creek burned to the ground the day before Christmas. Wease's two sons barely escaped the fire, only partially clothed.

Wease had a large collection of musical instruments, in addition to family artifacts and pictures, which can never be replaced. He did not have insurance, mostly because insurance underwriters do not write policies for old farm houses out in the country, unless you pay an arm and a leg. Wease is a well-known musician in the area.

"We're making it, though," said Wease, who is living in an apartment with his wife and two sons above the former Twin's Auto in Big Bend. He said he is extremely grateful to the many people who have come forward to help the family. "We are thankful to our friends and neighbors," he said. "It has been a wonderful experience, their generosity."

Wease and his brother Rodney have opened an auto repair shop at the old Twins site in Big Bend. "We have a lot of experience in auto repair, and we would appreciate some more customers," he said. Wease's new business is called Little Kanawha Car Care. They are doing brake, exhaust system, tires, tune-ups and other minor repairs.
