Blaine Norman, 73, of Spencer, West Virginia died of lung cancer Sunday January 11, 2009 at the Miletree Center in Spencer.
Blaine was born in Rosedale, WV September 3, 1935, to the late Park and Mabel Perrine Norman.
He was valedictorian of his graduating class at Normantown High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Virginia University and also did graduate work at Marshall University.
Blaine spent his career as an educator and taught agriculture, metal fabrication, drafting, horticulture and mathematics. He began his teaching career at Point Pleasant High School before moving to California in 1961. While in California, he taught at Caruthers and Corcoran High Schools and completed his career at Elk Grove Middle School. He returned to West Virgtnia in 1987.
Blaine will be remembered for his outstanding teaching, construction, and fabrication skills along with his unique sense of humor. He will also be remembered as a great father and friend.
Survivors include his son Stephen Norman and his wife Teresa, of Oroville, California; two daughters, Kelly Yeager, and her husband Steve, of Tulare, California; and Enrika Jones, and her husband Paul of Fernley, Nevada; eight grandchildren; his sister Betty McAdam of St. Albans, WV; two nieces, Lisa and Linda; two aunts, an uncle and several cousins.
As he requested, Blaine's body has been donated to West Virginia University School of Medicine. A memorial service originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, has been re-scheduled for Thursday, January 29 at 1 p.m. at Stump Funeral Home in Arnoldsburg, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to a favorite charity in memory of Blaine.
