Sylvia Pearl Villers 87, of Parkersburg West Virginia, formerly of Elizabeth WV passed away Friday, January 16, 2009 at The Willows Care Center in Parkersburg WV.
She was born in Wood County WV on March 11, 1921 the daughter of the late Sydney Carl Knotts and Mary Ellen Full Knotts of Slate WV.
Sylvia was retired from the Wirt County Board of Education as a cook. She was a Methodist by faith and attended the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.
She, along with her best friend Dee Snider, was the inspiration for the first annual Elizabeth, Wirt County Volunteer Fire Department Ice Cream Social.
She is survived by a daughter Mary Ann Hodgen (Gail) of Elizabeth; son Gary Wayne Villers (Lisa) of Washington WV and one stepson Robert Noah Villers (Penny) of Elizabeth; one granddaughter, Theresa Collins (Kyle) of Ripley WV and ten step-grandchildren, Cpl. Brandon Smith of Morgantown, WV, Terry Villers of Elizabeth, Bob Villers (Kay) of Newark WV, Randy Villers (Jenni) of Elizabeth, Kitty Cheuvront (Joe) of Elizabeth, Diane Villers and Peggy Barnard of Branson MO and Ricky Villers Eddy Villers and Tracy Villers of Baton Rouge LA; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and an abundance of good friends.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Ernest Noah Villers; three brothers Lloyd Knotts, Cecil Knotts and Floyd "Midge" Knotts, two stepsons Tommy Villers and Buddy Villers.
Services will be Tuesday January 20, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth, with the Rev Melvin Boggs officiating.
Visitation will be Monday January 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth. |
