ORMA RESIDENTS REPORTEDLY OVERCOME BY CARBON MONOXIDE

(01/17/2009)
Emergency services responded at 2 a.m. today to a residence near the Orma Post office to what was being called a carbon monoxide incident.

Temperatures in the county had dropped to about -6 below in some areas.

A woman, described as "confused and combative", and a male was being transported to Minnie Hamilton Health Center by Calhoun EMS at 3 a.m.

The initial report came from a female caller to Calhoun 911 who said she "woke up from being passed out," asking for help.

She placed the phone down, later hanging it up.

Calhoun 911 Dispatcher Fred Waybright continued to call-back the number, getting an answering machine, while dispatching Calhoun EMS and the Upper West Fork VFD.

The 911 dispatcher continued to call back with no answer at the location.

Waybright called Sheriff Allen Parsons, who was familiar with the location of the residence.

Such calls will be easy to locate when Calhoun's E-911 Addressing and Mapping system is fully functional, currently waiting approval from state officials.
