(01/13/2009)
Superintendent of Calhoun Schools, Roger Propst told school board members last night that recent changes with the school board's server will allow citizens to respond electronically to school policies that are issued for comment.

"This will give more opportunity for public feedback, prior to the board voting on new policy or policy changes," he said.

The board voted unanimously to expel a student, resulting in that student being expelled for 45 days, not allowed on CM-HS property, to attend the Alternative Learning Center at CGCC, be drug tested prior to re-enrollment at CM-HS, with continued random drug testing.

The board went into executive session to discuss the approval of a Pleasant Hill Elementary plumbing renovations bid.

The bids are related to a major repair project at the school regarding corroded and collapsing sewer pipes.

Three contractors bid on the project on January 6, 2009, which included two level bidding.

Dan Hill Construction: base bid $550,000, alternate project $265,000, totaling $815,000; Dougherty Company: base bid $728,000, alternate project $397,000, totaling $1,125,000; WV Heating and Plumbing: base bid $762,000, alternative project $438,000, totaling $1,200,000.

The board will make a decision on contractors during a special meeting.
