The Division of Natural Resources says West Virginia hunters bagged 11 percent more deer in 2008 then they did in 2007.
WV hunters killed 162,371 deer during the state's four deer seasons.
In 2007, hunters killed 145,937 deer.
Hunters killed 68,540 deer during the buck season, 54,704 during the antlerless season, 30,749 during the bow season and 8,378 during muzzleloader season.
DNR says the kill ranks as the state's 15th highest.
The DNR estimates there are about a million deer in the state.
