Larry Elbert Perkins, 69, of Panama City, Florida, died Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his home, after an extended illness.
He was born January 24, 1939, at Gay, West Virginia, a son of the late Raymond Ray and Deffie Mae Parks Perkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Nichols; a brother, Randall Perkins; a niece, Kelly Jo Batten.
Mr. Perkins was a retired cartographer with 30 years service. He retired from the U.S. Geology Survey Division.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Margaret "Peggy" Perkins of Panama City; two sons, Larry D. Perkins of Panama City, and Barry V. Perkins of Reston, VA; two brothers, Ronald Perkins and Ray Perkins both of Spencer, WV; three sisters, Genevieve Litton and Judy Knopp both of Mineral Wells, WV, Janice Batten of Gay; two granddaughters, Erica Bell of Panama City and Trudy Perkins of Reston, VA; two grandsons, L.B. Bell and Cole Bell both of Panama City; seven nieces and 10 nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home Spencer, with Pastor Smith Epling officiating. An urn burial will be at a later date, in the Mt. Herman Cemetery, at Harmony.
Friends may call at the funeral home one hour before the memorial service.
