LIFELESS BODY OF CALHOUN WOMAN DISCOVERED ALONG CREEK

(01/01/2009)
The lifeless body of a Calhoun woman was found early Thursday morning along Sycamore Creek near Russett, as Grantsville firemen searched the area.

Sheriff Allen Parsons said the woman had left a house earlier, with her car apparently getting stuck or stopping in a driveway, after which the victim appeared to have fallen over a steep hillside near the creek below.

Calhoun coroner Stacey Harlow was at the scene at 3:35 a.m.

The woman's sister called 911 at 1:50 a.m. indicating the woman was missing from her car, after which a search of the area began.

Sheriff Parsons said "So far it's unclear just what happened, the medical examiner will determine the cause."

The temperature was in the teens early Thursday morning.

The body was discovered about 150 yards off the Left Fork of Sycamore Road, a short distance from a low-water bridge, about one-half mile from Rt. 7, Russett Road.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
