There were 34 school teams participating in the Jason Eades Memorial Pool Wrestling Tournament, on Friday & Saturday Dec. 19 and 20, including 19 high school and 14 middle school teams.
Spencer Middle School finished in 11th place with 25 team points and 32 pins.
Individually, Spencer had 4 wrestlers who placed in the top 6 in their divisions:
Sam Lawson placed 2nd at 171#, (7-1) for the weekend, w/ 6 pins;
John Ash placed 4th at 155#, (5-3) for the weekend, w/ 4 pins;
Jacob Maldonado placed 6th at 102#, (3-5) for the weekend, w/ 2 pins;
Caleb Starcher placed 6th at 285#, (2-5) for the weekend, w/ 2 pins.
Also participating were 78# R.D. Monaghan (2-7) w/ 2 pins; 84# Kenneth Kudrick (4-3) w/ 3 pins; 90# Dillon Clarkson (1-6). 95# Josh Richards (3-6) w/ 1 pin, and in a sudden death overtime match against Justice from Independence Middle School, Josh scored a takedown for the (7-5) win. 110# Ely Shreve (2-7); 110B Preston Metzger (2-5); 116# Matt Starcher (3-4) w/ 1 pin; 123# Joe Copley (5-3) w/ 4 pins; 128# Sean Blosser (1-6) w/ 1 pin; 135# Scotty Gibson (0-7); 145# Tyler Lee (0-7); 171B Doug Smith (2-7) w/ 1 pin; 171C Caije Nichols (3-6) w/ 2 pins; 190# Mikeal Free (3-3) w/ 3 pins.
