Glenville State's, Dr. Cain (L) presents grant
check to Arnoldsburg Principal, Bryan Sterns
Submitted by Tami Allen
Arnoldsburg Elementary School recently became a Professional Development Schools Partner with Glenville State College. As a result, the school was awarded a $3000 grant to be used to impact student learning.
Chastity Hupp, special education teacher at AES, wrote the grant requesting the funds be used to provide after school tutoring for third and fourth grade students.
The focus of the tutoring will be to use the Acuity program to prepare students to use higher level thinking skills in order to meet the ever increasing demands of 21st Century Learning. Acuity is aligned with the WV 21st Century Content Standards and Objectives. It also provides a variety of assessments and learning tools.
The grant was approved, and on Monday, December 15, representatives from Glenville State College visited the AES staff after school to make everything official. School Board Members Cynthia Dale and Joy Starcher were also in attendance. After the documents were signed, everyone enjoyed a wonderful dinner provided by the AES kitchen staff.
