Braxton County Delegate Brent Boggs will be the new Majority Leader in the WV State House of Delegates.
House of Delegates Speaker Rick Thompson said "Delegate Boggs is a dedicated public servant who brings 12 years of legislative experience to the table...I and others on our House leadership team are confident in his ability to reach out to members and build consensus."
Boggs was first elected to the House of Delegates in 1996.
Boggs has served as Vice Chair of the House Finance Committee, has chaired the House Roads and Transportation Committee and worked as Vice Chair of the Agriculture Committee.
Delegate Boggs will replace outgoing House Majority Leader and Hancock County Delegate Joe DeLong. DeLong opted not to seek reelection this year.
DeLong ran for Secretary of State but lost in the May Primary Election to now Secretary of State-Elect Natalie Tennant.
Speaker Thompson has reappointed Marion County Delegate Mike Caputo to the position of Majority Whip.
