The Division of Natural Resources says preliminary figures show hunters killed 66,851 deer during West Virginia's recent two-week gun season for bucks.
The kill is 362 less then last year with 67,213 killed.
Bad weather the first two days kept hunters out of the woods.
The top 10 counties in deer kills were Preston, Ritchie, Wetzel, Randolph, Hampsire, Hardy, Lewis, Roane, Mason and Greenbrier.
The gun season is the state's largest with an estimated 320,000 hunters taking to the field. At least six hunters died this year.
West Virginia's muzzleloading season begins Monday.
