Steve Ellis, CRI's executive director, is asking Calhoun County and all regional counties it serves, for donations to help with the cash strapped poverty agency.
CRI has asked Calhoun for $12,000.
Ellis appeared before the Calhoun Commission last May and was asked by Commission president Bob Weaver about CRI's debt, Ellis told commissioners it was $100,000, when in fact in was about $500,000.
Helmick said at a Calhoun commission meeting this week that Ellis has indicated that counties that do not donate to the agency should not expect people from that county to be hired to do work for the agency.
Ellis says CRI is increasing their weatherization program.
Community Resources Inc. is asking Roane County commissioners to nearly triple their current contribution of $7,500. CRI is now requesting $22,000.
Each commission in the financially strapped anti-poverty agency's 11-county region is being asked for a contribution based on the percentage of low-income families living in the county.
