Clenton Lando Cottrell, 90, of Spencer, West Virginia died
December 10, 2008 at the Roane General Hospital, Spencer.
He was born January 16, 1918 in Oka, West Virginia a son of the late Elliot and Flora Jarvis Cottrell. He retired from the US Army with 20 years of service having served in World War II. He was also retired from the Spencer State Hospital and was a farmer.
He is survived by three daughters, Ramonda Carpenter of Walton. West Virginia and Sharon Cottrell and Karen Cottrell Cummings, both of Spencer; two sons, Larry Cottrell of Gandeeville, West Virginia and Steve Cottrell of London, Kentucky; one brother, Warren Cottrell of Tariff, West Virginia; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Gladys E. Cook Cottrell; his second wife, Evelyn Marie Hoselton Cottrell; two sisters, Gracie Badgett and Orva Barney; four brothers, Lester, Paris, Daris and Ezra Cottrell; one grandson, Jeff Cottrell; one granddaughter, April Cottrell; and two great~ granddaughters, Faith and Hope Cottrell.
Service 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Larry Greathouse officiating. Burial will be in the Eventide Cemetery, Spencer, with military graveside rites conducted by several area Roane County veteran's groups. Visitation is two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
