Pastor Mike Worf said "As Christmas becomes more and more worldly, Christ
is taken from Christmas every day." The pastor said that is why The Victory
Baptist Church at Grantsville decided to remind the community that if it
hadn't been for the "birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, there would
be no reason for the season." He said it is the Christmas Gift that changed
the world.
Parishioners of the church portrayed several different scenes from the
Christmas story for folks who drove their cars through the church parking
lot. It was an impressive sight, including live animals.
"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His
handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals
knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not
heard. Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words
to the end of the world." (Psalm 19:1-4)
"For God so loved the
world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) "The
angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of God shone 'round
them." (Luke 2:9)
"...The star which they had seen in the East
went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child
was. When they [the Wise Men] saw the star, they rejoiced with
exceedingly great joy. And when they had come into the house, they saw
the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.
And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him:
gold, frankincense, and myrrh." (Matthew 2:9-11)
"Every good gift
and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father
of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
(James 1:17)
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not
as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled,
neither let it be afraid." (John 14:27)
"Grace to you and peace
from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for
our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age,
according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory forever
and ever. Amen." (Galatians 1:3-5)
