Rev. Jack Dale Stump, 86, of Chapman Avenue, Spencer, West Virginia, passed away December 1, 2008 at Miletree Health Care Center, Spencer.
Rev. Stump was born October 13, 1922 at Russett, WV, a son of the late Letcher and Ester Shock Stump. He was a former resident of Chloe, WV and was an ordained minister in the West Virginia Gospel Tabernacle Association since 1960 and pastored churches in Kanawha and Calhoun Counties.
He was a retired service technician for the Diamond Department Store in Charleston for 33 1/2 years. he was a US Navy Veteran of WWII serving as a carpenters mate and was awarded various medals while he served in the South Pacific on the USS Laman amphibious transport ship including five battle stars.
He is survived by nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Tanner Stump who he married November 7, 1942; and brothers, Bernard, Parker, and Hunter Stump; and sisters, Lola Hoover and Delphia Kendall.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, December 4 at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg. rev. Jack Roberts will officiate. Interment will be in the Lamb Cemetery at Chloe.
